Abstract | This document, prepared by an Arizona State University education research unit, provides profiles of 47 educational-management organizations (EMOs) for 2002-03. The report begins with a description of the structure of the educational management industry and a discussion of the pros and cons of EMOs. This edition (fifth annual report) divides EMOs into three classifications: large (operating 10 or more schools), medium (4 to 9 schools), and small (3 or fewer schools). The company profiles are presented through sets of graphs, charts, and tables. The first set contains the following general information: company name; company location; total number of schools operating; number of public schools that are charter schools; total number of students in schools; and states in which the company is operating. The second set contains the following detailed information: company address; telephone and fax numbers; URL; year founded; whether the company is publicly or privately held; and the company's profitably status. Furthermore, for each company, information is provided on the schools it operates: school name; location; year founded; grade levels served; number of students; whether school is charter. Finally, the size and growth of each company over the previous 5 years is charted. (WFA) |
